Homage to Catalonia (MB 1)

Welcome to my blog. Since we’ve started this project, I’ve noticed that although I’ve been trying to read a little bit here and there, I’m a little scared to read my book in bits and pieces. This is because I’m scared of forgetting. So one night I would read 10 pages but then the next day if I didn’t allocate at least an hour of reading, my motivation would disappear. Eventually, I would end up just reading around 80 pages in a day. At least though, the story makes sense and I did not forget. Unfortunately, since I’m not reading at every chance I have, I am not being as efficient with my time as I would like to be. So maybe, throughout this project I can work on my time management. The book so far is very interesting. I have previously read Animal Farm, which I loved, and since George Orwell also wrote Homage to Catalonia, I’m also enjoying the similar writing style. Furthermore, I feel as though George Orwell writes in a way that is just so smooth to read. It’s like he’s my grandpa just telling me an old story. I like that in a way because sometimes the subject he’s talking about isn’t too interesting, but the way he presents it helps me to understand the details. While reading, I did have to look up certain acronyms such as P.O.U.M (Which is a Marxist party that had its own militia that Orwell himself served for) and I had to look up certain places such as where Catalonia even is in Spain. Anyways, that’s all for this mini-blog, I’ll see you next time.
